Stage Fright, Blinded by the Spot Light, watercolor, 1976, 10" X 29" StoryAfter working on this series for a time, I began noticing how curtains moved when they opened and closed. I liked the curved shapes the leading edge formed as they moved. I was teaching at the time and on the College's Cultural Affairs Committee. As a member of this committee, I introduced a musical group that was performing at the College. I was briefly on the stage in the dark auditorium with a spotlight on me. I was impressed by the brightness of the light yet not being able to see much of anyone in the audience. This experience inspired Stage Fright, Blinded by the Spot Light. |
